Entries in holidays (2)

Shana Tova!

Ah, it's that time of year again - Rosh Hashana is here! It always takes me by surprise - September with all its new beginnings, school , sports, work - it' all so hectic. I forget to look around. Even if the days are getting shorter, there is also an inherent beauty in them - the weather is cooler, but not too cool yet. Some leaves are turning. My neighbor comes up with bags of plums and apples from their colony garden.

And then here it is - my favorite holiday! I love to celebrate the end of the summer season, I love being forced to slow down and realize that the season is turning. I become aware and grateful for my family and friends.  I can't wait to dip that apple in honey and wish us all a sweet and happy new year!

And this year I am particularly grateful for having been able to finish this - my very own high holiday challa cover. I've had the idea for years, but have never been able to make it real - quilting is not really my forte. But then I  found these on Purlbee and read all their great quilting instructions, and so I got off my tuchas and went and bought fabric in a real quilting store!

This is really a prototype for me as I enter the world of quilting - I whipped this up pretty quickly until I got to the pesky details.  In the end, it's far from perfect in my mind, but, it's pretty darn good for a first try and, what's most important - it's finished before the holidays.

It's all good!

this moment

- A Friday ritual.

A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week.

A simple, special, extraordinary moment.

A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

I would love it if you shared your moment with me in the comments section aswell!
